This recipe had a few steps, but still is really simple to make. It is perfect for an appetizer with your favorite crisp white wine. It also pairs with a charcuterie board for light bites. The naan bread is soft and fluffy. The pears are slightly firm but warmed in buttery goodness and provide the bright counterpart to the tangy thyme infused goat cheese. Caramelized onions and honey add subtle sweetness that makes this dish taste like a fancy restaurant creation right in your own kitchen. I’ve taken this to parties many times, and it always blows people away!
Ingredients:
- 1 Bosc pear, peeled and sliced thin
- 1/2 T butter
- 8 oz. goat cheese
- 1/4 cup onion, chopped
- pinch of sugar
- 3 T. olive oil
- 10-15 sprigs fresh thyme
- 4 T honey
- 2 pieces naan bread
Directions:
Saute onions in 1 T oil with a pinch of sugar and salt over medium heat until browned. Melt butter in pan, add pears and roast about 10 minutes. Flip halfway through. In the meantime, add 3 sprigs fresh thyme to a bowl with 2 T oil, and let sit for several minutes. To make the honey whipped goat cheese, mix cheese with 2 T honey and about 5 sprigs of thyme stripped from stems. Preheat oven to 400. Brush the infused olive oil onto the naan bread. Spread honey whipped goat cheese on each naan. Sprinkle onions and pear slices on top. Bake about 8 minutes. Remove and top with more thyme leaves and a tablespoon of honey drizzled to finish. Cut into pieces and serve warm.
